CLE - Continuing Legal Education
The CLA offers a comprehensive series of seminar, in a range of subjects and formats,
including our leading edge lunch time seminars, extended format 2 hour seminars,
half day seminars, one day conferences, debates and afternoon and evening seminars.
Events are designed specifically to meet the requirement for attendance, although
most attendees will be involved in Commerce or Law.
Continuing Legal Education is a requirement of the Law Society of New South Wales.
Practising solicitors are required to obtain ten units of CLE annually in order
to maintain registration as a legal practitioner. Continuing Professional Development
is a requirement of the New South Wales Bar Association. Barristers are required
to accrue ten points each practising certificate year.
Seminars offered under the Associations Events program are in most cases designed
to meet the CLE program requirements of both the Law Society of New South Wales
and the New South Wales Bar Association in relation to their individual members.
State Law Societies and Bar Associations outside NSW also have policies governing
CLE. Where the CLA organises events outside NSW the Association will endeavour to
have seminars accredited within the particular State or Territory.
The CLA strives to provide a CLE program that is comprehensive, rigorous (both intellectually
and practically) and directed to the needs of legal practitioners and those involved
in finance and commerce.
Booking for CLA seminars can be made either online, by fax, or via post/DX. For
details of current seminars please see our Events Calendar.
